You don’t normally describe a city as tranquil. Especially and Italian city. Yet, the evening that I took this picture was exactly that. It was spent strolling along the waterfront at sunset. There was noise, there were lots of people about, but the mood was tranquil and relaxed. And I feel this picture captured it perfectly.
After watching the sunset over the Bay of Trieste, I spent some time getting some night shots. Of course I didn’t have my tripod with me, so many came out blurry. About to give up, I noticed these lighted pillars in the median of the main road and thought this could make for an interesting picture. I took a number of shots as cars whizzed by and I was very happy with this one. It looks surreal at first. I don’t think it looks as simple as just a car driving by. I love how the colors glow and the sky isn’t quite totally dark yet and matches the purple in the pillars.
My eye was drawn to this man sitting by the water at sunset, because he looked so contemplative. I find that the changing light of sunset soothes me, and in this peace comes room to think. I really enjoyed this sunset, and I had the time to because this was taken on vacation in Trieste, Italy.
I passed this window while walking from dinner one evening. The flower pots, each a different bold color, really jumped out at me. The whole window simply looked like something out of a tour book. This is something I enjoy about taking walks – looking around at the details a small simple gems around me.
What is it about water that is so relaxing? This photograph was taken during a walk along the promenade in Trieste, Italy in early June. It was crowded, yet peaceful. Most people were packing up after having spent the day on the beach, while some sat and enjoyed the last rays of the day. People were happy and relaxed. The sea has that effect. I feel this picture captures the peace I felt well.
