After a bad day, I forced myself to get on my bike. I often react to stress by becoming lethargic, even though physical activity is what helps me most. It was a good choice. The weather was lovely on this warm evening and I really was able to clear my head. While going around a bend on this bike path, which runs along the Rhine River in Ludwigshafen, I saw the awesome way the light was falling and immediately was angry I didn’t have my 600D with me.
I always feel a bit proud of myself when I take a picture that would look great as a desktop background. I am laughing as I write this because it sounds ridiculous. This picture is my current desktop background. It was taken in Novigrad, Croatia, on the grounds of castle ruins. The view was spectacular and there were a lot of more obvious things to photograph (which I also did). The wind was blowing through the grass and that caught my eye and drew me to take this picture.
Summer 2015 is now a memory, so I thought I would end with one final summer post. Summer always reminds me of the Jersey Shore, and what is more Jersey Shore than hermit crabs? I had hermit crabs as a child and always found these creatures fascinating. And although I now realize that it isn’t very humane to hold living creatures like this, they do bring back fond memories.
In Zadar, Croatia this summer the weather was beautiful. Warm, sunny, dry. The old town was alive with people. As I was looking for things to photograph I saw these two ladies chatting and enjoying the nice summer afternoon. I wanted to taken them alone, as I thought the symmetry would make for an appealing picture. Instead, the little girl with the ice cream cone walked into the picture. I like the effect it has. It gives a bit of movement in the picture. And innocence.
