I cherish little relics of the past that live on today. The Kristallspiegelsaal, or crystal mirror hall, belongs to a hotel and restaurant in the town of Altenahr, Germany. In this small town in the Ahr Valley, tradition lives on. I wasn’t able to find out when the this opened, but it looks like early 1970’s to me. I think about all of the fun times that have been had here, the drunken dramas, the meals eaten together with friends and family. I also wonder how much longer a place like this will survive.

Ahrtal
Another picture from the trip to the Ahr Valley last November. I took think while doing a short hike on the Red Wine Trail, which is a nice trail through the vineyards and steep hills of the Ahr Valley. There are excellent trails and this November day was warm for the time of year.
Colored Windows
The Ahr Valley in Germany is known for its dramatic landscape and its wines. This picture is of a winery in the town of Altenahr. In the low November sun the colored windows were shining brightly and was a nice contrast to the brick.
