One of my favorite vacation spots is the Hopfensee in Bavaria. The landscape is simply breathtaking and it is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. This picture was taken on a hot August evening a while after sunset. The very last light of the long European summer day was dwindling away.
I met another photographer while taking this picture. She tried to give me a few tips, and I tried them out, but they didn’t produce the picture I wanted. Everyone has their own style and way of getting the results they want. But it was still nice to stand there with someone who was also trying to capture what I was in their own way. A shared, yet individual experience.
I chose a smaller aperture to be able to increase the shutter speed to 30 seconds. I love the way the lake blurs in this shot. This picture is very dark, which means that the last light captured is more dramatic in the shot overall.
