Color (1/7): Subway

Subway

I have curated seven photos for my next theme – Color.

This is the Canal St. subway stop. I was in New York City on business and met my parents. We had a very nice dinner and on the way back to the hotel the lighting, graffiti and subway stop caught my eye. I was lucky that a random person was going down the stairs when I snapped this.

I like saturated pictures with deep colors. That said, I prefer to capture the colors in the camera and not so much by overly increasing saturation. I shot this with my 40mm fixed lens, with the aperture open at 2.8. I find that the bigger the aperture, the better the color.  I was surprised that the color came out so surreal. I did do some minor adjustments in Lightroom.

Camera: Canon 600D
Lens: EF-40mm
Aperture: f/2.8
Shutter Speed: 1/40
ISO:3200
Postprocessing: Lightroom
