Christmas can be a magical time. Anyone who has good childhood memories of Christmas looks forward to this time of year, despite the stress and hustle it brings. Christmas lights are a highlight. In this dark time of year, cities and towns are decorated, apartments and houses lit in colors.
The German tradition of Christmas Markets is another highlight. The star lights picture here are a staple as much as Glühwein and Bratwurst. The warm colors and the star shapes make for some great photos.
It was harder than expected to get this picture. It was dark, but the lights were pretty bright, so it was hard to find the right exposure. I also find that my camera often struggles with bright red and magenta. Although I was able to tone the red down in Lightroom, you can still see that red tends to be oversaturated. The composure of the picture is crowded and chaotic, but that is how Christmas Markets are and therefore I feel that it fits to this picture.

Beautiful! I love the Christmas stars and regret that I never bought one for myself while there. Luckily, they have started appearing more here. I’ve asked for one for Christmas. ….
