What is it about water that is so relaxing? This photograph was taken during a walk along the promenade in Trieste, Italy in early June. It was crowded, yet peaceful. Most people were packing up after having spent the day on the beach, while some sat and enjoyed the last rays of the day. People were happy and relaxed. The sea has that effect. I feel this picture captures the peace I felt well.
At first I was a bit mad that the tanker was in the background of this picture. Then I accepted it. While not natural beauty, it is part of the scene in the very busy gulf of Trieste, and there is something majestic about such a large ship floating peacefully in the distance. I used a very small aperture to ensure wide depth of field and to capture the light the way I wanted. The picture came with the light pastel colors and I only did minor adjustments in Lightroom. I slightly adjusted the contrast, whites, and blacks, as well as the clarity to get the final picture.
