This is the creepiest photo I have ever taken. I considered posting it during oddities week, but then decided it would be a great Halloween picture. Clowns are often silly and fun, but at the same time can be very creepy. I vividly remember a mean clown coming to one of my early birthday parties.

I have been posting a lot of pictures from the trip to Croatia. It is a beautiful country with interesting things to photograph at every turn. I took this picture while walking through Zadar’s old town. The symmetry of the benches and the signpost attracted by eye. The signpost is leaning slightly, creating just the right amount of tension in the picture. This was another case where I wanted to take the picture without people in it, but since this woman was waiting for a bus, she wasn’t going anywhere. I am happy that she is in this picture. Back turned, you aren’t sure if she is about to walk out of the picture or stand there for longer.

I always feel a bit proud of myself when I take a picture that would look great as a desktop background. I am laughing as I write this because it sounds ridiculous. This picture is my current desktop background. It was taken in Novigrad, Croatia, on the grounds of castle ruins. The view was spectacular and there were a lot of more obvious things to photograph (which I also did). The wind was blowing through the grass and that caught my eye and drew me to take this picture.

Croatia really impressed me. The people were welcoming, and the sights were amazing. As I mentioned in an earlier blog, I do like to plan my trips to ensure the main sights are visited, but I also like time for exploring. Looking at a map, I thought the town of Novigrad, about 20 minutes north of Zadar, would be worth a visit. There wasn’t much there, but it was a picturesque little town. On the way there, we passed by this small church out on a small island in this bay. It was called Sv. Duh and was not in any tour book or Website I had read. We spent about 20 minutes here just taking in the beautiful weather, the mountains, and this beautiful, ancient and small church.

There is beauty in simplicity. I think the beauty of this photo is that it is rather simple. Walking through Biograd, Croatia, I noticed a flowering bush. It was near an unspectacular gray house that wasn’t that well-kept. I stopped and started taking photos of the flowers. The first one didn’t come out, but as I moved around the bush, this composure came to me. But I didn’t realize the full impact of this until I viewed this in full size on my computer.
