The walk up to the top Schloßberg in Graz, Austria was quiet and peaceful. Halfway up I noticed this starfish-shaped leaf on the ground. I guess since I was on vacation, it reminded me of finding starfish on the beach as a kid. The way the leaf was laying there, it seemed like it was standing up. It seemed alive. And a bit isolated, like the starfish on the beach.
For this picture, I needed to get close to the ground. The swivel display on the 600D came in handy here. I opened the aperture to ensure shallow depth of field. I only did light post processing, adding slight darker vignette to the photo. They say to do the work in the camera, and this was a case where I was successful in doing that!
