The Forggensee in Bavaria is a man made lake that was created for flood control. It was drained in 2014 and you could see the remains of a Roman road and an old village that was flooded by the lake. The power of water is amazing. When full, the Forggensee is a beautiful blue lake on the edge of the Bavarian Alps and is loved by vacationers for water sports.
I like this picture because it combines some of my favorite things – mountains, sunset, and light/dark contrast. The light was changing very fast around the time I took this picture because of the weather and sunset. The pictures communicates a drama that I find often hard to capture. Post processing was only minimal. I was very happy with this shot of one of my favorite places.
