I am blessed to have many friends and a large family. Unfortunately I live very far away from many of them. With the communications the Internet enables, it is easy than ever to stay in touch. Still, it isn’t the same as seeing someone in person. There are a number of things that always make me think of family and friends. Daisies for example. Daisies remind me of a good friend from college. We don’t see each other often, but whenever I see a daisy I think of her. It’s nice to have little reminder like that. It’s also a reminder to reach out to your friends and family, even if it is just a quick hello. That is at least how I treat these reminders.
These daisies came up wild in the back yard. The sun was shining on them. Even though I had told myself I was done for the day, I unpacked my camera again and took a picture of them. I am glad I did. These daisies were much smaller than they appear. I only had my telephoto lens on me, but still got a nice shot. I was a few feet away from the flowers, but zoomed the lens fully (250mm). That gave a short depth of field (blurred background) despite an aperture of f/13. I try to ensure correct composure when I take a shot. But for this picture, I found it hard to properly frame the picture so I did have to crop some of the picture out to get the composure I wanted.
